NYC Shopping

Its super busy and while I would love to blog every day to keep you posted…it is a bit challenging with all running around. A quick update on the shopping. I spent a couple of days mid-town and got some great basics done for clients. Yesterday, I shopped in Greenpoint and Williamsburg…really love it there. It is chill and I feel like I can find some unique pieces…I also feel like I am supporting a local biz and that feels good. Style notes? Gals, it is all about the loose shift dresses. if you are uncomfortable with that look, think twice. It is comfortable and can look terrific if you accessorize. Boys, continue to rock the blazer….more about that soon.

Last night I went to an Ernest Sewn fashion event (photo coming soon) that was in conjunction with the Cotton folks. The event was all for this cool campaign…check it out…recycling your jeans and creating a new product out of it…you know what I am thinking here of course…you got it…so “sustainable”. Here is the info ~ Cotton from Blue to Green” campaign and fashion show sponsored by Ernest Sewn and National Jean Company

More soon. RL

I wanted to let you know about Steven Buckwald, owner of Surroundings Flowers & Events. Steven has been in the flower business for more than 30 years, offering high-end international flowers at whole sale prices. NYC-based Surroundings always bypasses any traditional flower shop and deals directly with the growers/farms around the world and sells the bunches of flowers to the public at the same cost these flower shops are buying them! They are doing this for Weddings and Events as well! Brides can save 25% with Surroundings versus using another, local, high end florist. Whatever your budget, NYC-based Surroundings Flowers & Events will work with you. Here’s the website, www.surroundingsflowers.com

Details are below. Please let me know if I can offer you further information about NYC’s Steven Buckwald and arrange an interview for you.

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Thank you,

    Tracy

2ND SATELLITE FLOWER SHOP IN MANHATTAN OFFERING

A HUGE ARRAY OF INTERNATIONAL, HIGH-END FLOWERS AT

    WHOLESALE PRICES

Just in time for this the Wedding Season, florist to the stars, NYC-based Steven Buckwald, owner of Surroundings Flowers & Events (www.surroundingsflowers.com) brings consumers another opportunity to buy an international selection of premium quality flowers at wholesale prices at his latest satellite boutique located at 1236 Lexington Avenue between 83rd and 84th Streets. This is his second satellite shop in Manhattan so far, the other at the Apthorp building on Broadway between 78 & 79th Street, with plans for many more to come.

Recently, Buckwald bought and converted a 7,000 square foot building in Harlem and turned it into a flower warehouse with more than 2,000 square feet of refrigerator space to serve his current 30 year old floral and event business as well as his innovative wholesale stores.

By investing in state of the art technology enabling direct communication and sophisticated inventory tracking he’ll be able to monitor the flowers by country of origin, length of time in the warehouse or stores and when exactly they are sold. His mission is to change the way people buy fresh flowers and his groundbreaking approach introduces a new business model to the $40 billion dollar global floral industry.

In New York, and many other cities, the profusion of corner grocers, supermarkets and big box retailers has diminished customers’ experience with fresh cut flowers. “People are used to limited selection, poor quality, short shelf life, and flowers without fragrance,” says Buckwald.

For the past 30 years, Buckwald’s company operated from a brownstone on West 79th Street, and provided fresh cut flowers and arrangements to individual and corporate clients, such as the Metropolitan Opera, Tommy Hilfiger, NBC-TV and many, many others throughout Manhattan and the boroughs.
