It takes a Village at any Age

There are some people that dream of coming to New York. That person was always me. New York, then Paris. This opening sounds like something Carrie Bradshaw might type. So cliché’ right?

However, one can’t deny that draw to the City, the place where we all come to become that person inside us that only New York can nurture.

This city is not an easy place to make that happen. The work ethic and the hours are insane. Expectations are high and if you are lazy, it’s just not going to work for you.

So, my latest news in my personal evolution, I have a new medium to apply my art in, Barneys New York Madison Avenue! I am a Personal Shopper at the Flagship store and I couldn’t be more thrilled.

More to come about this new adventure. More blog posts. Fashion History, Trend Inspiration…and more. I have so much to share!

The thing about achieving dreams is that they evolve, don’t they? And, then, when you arrive at a new landing place, you realized that perhaps this was the place you were headed the whole time? I am one of those that believes the secret formula for making things happen in your life is declaring your vision and manifesting, trusting God to do his thing, but for me, I must add why I believe I have been so blessed in life. It’s from the deep love and support of my family and friends.

It started with a cosmetics bag that my dear one gave me 15 years ago…she lovingly said, “here honey, put some things in here and leave them behind so you don’t have to shuffle them…toothbrush, shampoo, etc.…” This bag turned into bigger bags and then some large suitcase and part of a garment rack…eventually, a pull-out sofa got put into the office and wow, really? What a friend?!?

I now get to live in the same city with my friend, be part of her family and I know she secretly guides me in the direction that she knows is best for me after all these years of friendship. She is one of my angels. P.S. I still have that cosmetics bag because every time I look at it warms my heart.

Cut to other dear friends who have opened doors for me by introductions that have led to new paths with constant positive encouragement. The bestie that helped me move into a five story walk up on one of the hottest days of the year…this after her thinking that it would take an hour. It didn’t. Another angel! The same angel whose straight talk has scared me into action. I couldn’t be more blessed.

Most recently I had another straight-talking friend save my life by telling me to get off my ass and get to a proper doctor for some healing. He was right. All the while, my mom, and family were making sure I was okay by checking in and honestly, praying for me. We can’t sell that short.

What am I trying to say here? I don’t know except that I feel so incredibly blessed and I can’t take all the credit for getting myself here. It literal took a village to get me to this new phase in my life and I am taking this into account. This is shaping up to be the best decade of my life and none of this love, prayer, and encouragement are going by the wayside.

I am so honored that I can continue to use my gifts to inspire you to do what you love and focus on your aspirations. Please reach out to me for any wardrobe, beauty and gift needs. And please tell your friends,  sign up to subscribe to my blog, and most importantly, remember that you can make it happen, especially, when you have your Village.
