Custo Barcelona SP 2013

It’s perfect. I have been confirmed for over a week ~ unheard of to be confirmed that early btw…and, I have a seat assignment!

I can get there just in time, or a little late. Oops, no go, the Custo Barcelona show was “overbooked” so to speak. And, my seat assignment was “pending”. So, I was flying standby and didn’t realize. I, having recently decided that I am going to try and remain west coast “chill” if I am going to live in Manhattan full time, decided to not make a fuss and watch the show from the screens in the Mercedes Benz NYFW tents. That’s fine, I have been doing this long enough that I do have my connections to at least get good images and footage, even if I am not in the actual room.

Custo Barcelona’s SP 2013 collection was a lovely melange of texture, print and color for both men and women, that we, since 1981, have come to expect from the brand. It was started by Custo and David Dalmau in 1981, Custo Barcelona was inspired on a motorcycle trip across the States. Mostly inspired by the laid back attitude of Southern Cal, the brothers returned to their home in Barcelona and started a business crafting T-shirts for men and women with screen-prints and illustrations.

My first Custo t-shirt had distinct and fab graphic faces. Thanks to the wonder of the internets, I found it on line to show you! Mine had black long sleeves. I used to sport this with a short black skirt and black boots in the 90′s. I found in the Savvy department in my hometown downtown Seattle Nordstrom. It makes me smile to see it again.

The designers have never been afraid of mixing colors and graphics. I liked the obvious sophistication of the fabrics with the mix of silhouettes. “Hi-Lo” and “short under long” will still be prevalent next spring. Check the video of the show thanks to my friends at VIDICOM.
